Philip A. Zimmermann Exhibition
Urban Art
This is the second exhibition that the artist holds in the gallery, while we will be honored to have him with us in the opening night of the exhibition.
Philip A. Zimmermann started his artistic career on the street in the early 2000s, leaving his mark with Graffiti and Tagging on bridges and decommissioned industrial buildings in Saarbrücken, Germany, where he grew up and still lives. Back then, graffiti and tagging used to be considered as Vandalism, where nowadays are a part of Modern Art and Culture.
In his work, Zimmermann turns his daily observations into a well-structured visual critique of politics and consumerism. The ephemeral aspect of tagging is related to the need for a renewal and the idea of continuous painting on existing things.
As the surface of a canvas is limited, Zimmermann usually adds some extra space around the image or reducing it.
His works on paper and photographs are associated with the loneliness and isolation that man experiences today, while his paintings are the result of his multifaceted creation.
